Providing What You Need for an Easy Recovery
After your procedure, you will recover in our state-of-the-art recovery room, where you will be monitored to ensure your safety. We will discuss recovery tips and what to expect with you and your trusted family member or friend, who has accompanied you to your appointment.
We will be available to answer any questions you may have and will send you home with a recovery kit, which includes printed recovery instructions.
What to Expect and Helpful Tips for a Speedy Recovery
Getting rest
We recommend that you rest as much as possible following your procedure. Be sure to listen to what your body is telling you.
Taking time off
At a minimum, we encourage you to take the day off the day of your procedure and the day after your procedure. Keep in mind you may require additional days depending on how you feel.
Managing pain
Some people experience discomfort after the procedure. Depending on your procedure, you may have been prescribed a pain medication with detailed instructions. To manage any pain or discomfort, be sure to ice the area and take any prescribed pain medications before the anesthetic wears off. We encourage you to get ahead of the pain!
Symptoms
You may experience the following symptoms after your procedure:

Bleeding post procedure
You will be provided with gloves, gauze, and instructions on how to properly change your gauze. Contact us right away if bleeding persists for longer than 8 hours and cannot be controlled with 30 minutes of firm pressure on the gauze or black tea bags.

Tingling sensations in your lips, chin, and/or tongue
This is normal and will be temporary. Please contact us if this sensation is lasting.

Nausea after IV sedation or while taking pain medication
Be sure to follow food intake recommendations and eat fifteen minutes prior to taking pain medication. Please contact us if you have persistent nausea or vomiting.

Swelling
This will usually peak around 2-3 days following the procedure and can take up to a week to resolve. Be sure to apply an ice pack, keep your head elevated, and use ibuprofen to help reduce swelling.
